No Surrender Breast Cancer Foundation Research Grant Program
The No Surrender Breast Cancer Foundation is a 501 c3 Not-for-Profit organization. We seek funding from private individuals, foundations, and corporations to increase our scope and help women the following ways:
1. Understand their disease
By thoroughly understanding your diagnosis, a woman can make the best choices for her care. Through our website, we breakdown pathology reports, explain what the medical terminology means, and empower a newly diagnosed woman with facts in place of fear.
2. Explain Treatment Choices
The fear of the unknown is worse than anything that can happen in reality. Our website and support forum takes a woman through each step of her surgery, chemotherapy and treatment beyond cancer. She learns how to be prepared, what to expect, how to overcome obstacles, how to thrive during treatment and through our support forum, she shares her experience with other women who are going through it with her, or who have been there and can show her the way.
3. Live the Best Life After Cancer
An educated survivor lives a life where she takes care of herself, eats right, manages her medications, gets proper follow-up care and makes sure she does everything possible to stay disease free. Our website and support forum offer insight and the latest in research to keep her on top of everything she needs to know.
4. Before Forty
Our Before Forty Initiative was designed with one goal in mind: SAVE LIVES. We will do whatever is necessary to change the guidelines of having 40 as the age a woman should get her first mammogram. Women are dying because of this. Especially women in the African American community. Triple Negative Breast Cancer is a very aggressive form of breast cancer that strikes young women before the age of 40, and without early detection, it kills. We will change how women get screened across the United States by changing legislation, insurance company discrimination, and lowering the age of a baseline mammogram to the age of 35 and 30 for women in high risk groups.
5. The Sister Corps
We have No Surrender Sisters all over the United States, Canada and Europe. The Sister Corps program offers local recommendations for the best doctors, care givers, supplies and other needs to help each woman through her course of treatment.
These are the things we raise money for. We need funding to help us build our website and message forum, print educational pamphlets, PSAs for the Before Forty Campaign, help the Sister Corps grow across the world.
BUT WE DO NOT STOP THERE.
The No Surrender Community also raises money on their own. THIS MONEY is designated for a very specific purpose:
The No Surrender Research Grant.
Each year, with the assistance of our Medical Advisory Board, we will choose the most promising research being conducted that will lead to a cure to this disease that has effected each of us personally. We will vote on the top three and then, with the money we raise as a community, we will give a Research Grant to that research project.
We believe the cure for our disease is in a laboratory somewhere. We do not believe in making donations to organizations who say that a certain percentage of money will go to "research" somewhere down the line. The No Surrender Research Grant is targeted and specific and funded by the women of No Surrender.
